Create a lighting plan together with a lighting designer

Choosing the right lighting is a profession

When the interior plan is ready, all the furniture has a place and the color and materials plan has been determined, the design stands or falls on a beautifully thought-out lighting plan created by a lighting designer.

There is so much choice of fixtures on the market, it is difficult to determine what the right lighting is for your situation. Recessed or surface-mounted spotlights, how many and where to place them?

What is the budget and what atmosphere do you want to create? In the kitchen you need sufficient light on the countertop, but you may also want to be able to dim it when you have finished cooking. A lighting plan is just as important in the bathroom; is the light warm enough to give you a comfortable feeling? When you take a bath, the lighting will be set differently than when you stand in front of the mirror early in the morning.

What does a lighting designer do?

A lighting designer starts creating a lighting plan. An example of a lighting plan is a combination of mood lighting, functional lighting and light accents. Atmospheric lighting is often very personal, especially when it concerns unique fixtures, for example above the dining table. These must of course match the interior design in terms of design and shape. Do you like straight lines or transparent glass? We make a proposal with a few options so that you find the fixture that appeals to you most and fits within your budget.

Functional lighting ensures that the space is illuminated in a smart way. We illuminate the walls where you might want to hang a treasured work of art, ensuring that there is sufficient light in every room to work, eat, read, etc. Recessed or surface-mounted spotlights are often used for this. By working with different beam widths and number of lumens, we can control the light intelligently. Dimming is often an important option here, matching the new fixtures to existing dimmers is often a challenge. Home automation systems offer a great solution for this, we tailor the choice of spotlights to your wishes.

The light accents complete the lighting plan. Think of small spotlights in the custom wall cabinets, where that one work of art is beautifully highlighted. Or an LED light line around the mirror, where the wall behind it comes into the light.

What does a lighting plan look like?

We first determine the dotted plan on the map: where will which type of fixture be placed. We then determine which fixtures these will be and where they will be located in the lighting plan. We then indicate which lighting is switched together and from which switch. This plan is then accompanied by a list of the chosen luminaires and their technical specifications for the installer. This one will take it from here.

Hiring a lighting designer is always a good idea

Hiring a lighting designer is always a good idea. Especially in the initial phase of a major renovation or new construction, all connection points can still be determined. Which spotlights will you choose, which will be connected together, how many and which dimmers will you use? Before the electrician can make a budget, there are many choices to make. An experienced lighting designer will save you a lot of time and choice stress.
